Cool Creative: Whitley Adkins
There are stylish people and then there are true creatives who bring fashion, storytelling, and energy to everything they touch. Whitley Adkins is absolutely one of those people.
As a Charlotte-based fashion stylist, creative director, producer, and SouthPark Magazine Style Editor, Whitley has spent the last 15 years building a beautifully layered career rooted in creativity, confidence, and an unwavering love of style. From personal styling and editorial shoots to full creative direction and production for brands and businesses, she has become one of Charlotte’s true tastemakers.
What I love most is that her story began with passion, instinct, and a leap of faith. Inspired by her grandmother and great-grandmother, both buyers and stylists for an upscale luxury boutique in Eastern North Carolina, Whitley grew up surrounded by fashion and fabulous women with impeccable taste. Her grandmother remains her ultimate style icon and it is easy to see how that influence shaped her own signature aesthetic.
After the birth of her second son in 2011, Whitley reevaluated her personal and professional goals and decided to pursue her passion for style full force. What started with a story submission to Lucky Magazine quickly evolved into The Queen City Style, originally launched as a blog and now a recognizable brand celebrating fashion, creativity, and personal style.
Her approach to work feels refreshingly authentic. Built on a lifelong love of “playing dress up” and dreaming big, Whitley has created a career helping others feel confident, polished, and fully themselves. She champions fashion, style, the arts, and most importantly, other women.
As a single working mother for much of her journey, she built her business while raising two boys, proving that passion and perseverance can coexist beautifully. Her mindset of abundance and encouragement toward others is part of what makes her such a magnetic creative force.
Whitley’s work is polished yet approachable, stylish without trying too hard, and always infused with personality. Charlotte’s creative scene is brighter because of women like her.
