A Bar A Ranch

A week of posts focusing on the west and the rustic life it can bring is not complete without sharing one of my favorite places on this planet.

We went a few summers ago and hope to return soon.  It is located in Encampment, Wyoming.  This working dude ranch is perfection in every way.  It is very casual but 5 star in every aspect.  I LOVE to ride horses and spent about 6 hours a day out on the range…the most beautiful views you can even imagine. We saw all kinds of wildlife, even a mama moose and her baby.

They offer activities for every age. Check out the website HERE and make your travel plans. You will cherish the memories as I do.

A float trip down the river…

The morning roundup of horses is a sight to see…

The round house is where you spend evening by the fire enjoying music and games…

My mother and older daughter a few summers ago…

My father with a catch…

My youngest at the rodeo…

My son competing at the rodeo – pictionary on horseback….

My family on a ride on the platte…

Justin Howe, who runs A Bar A with his wife, and a real cowboy singing at the Friday night cookout… You can ride on horseback to the cookout or…

in the beautiful antique fire truck.  They have an amazing kids camp.  It was hard to tear my children away. The counselors are such fun young college kids…

We hiked up to the cross… This was a real feat.

The main dining area where you have all your meals.

The food is all organic, local and prepared by a fabulous chef.

A morning ride to a breakfast on the platte.

A living room to a cabin…

A bedroom…

So if you have a hankering for the BEST FAMILY TRIP EVER check out A Bar A Ranch.  It is truly heaven on earth.
