Art Love: Amir H. Fallah
Well, these stopped me in my tracks.
This week’s Art Love is Amir H. Fallah’s What The Wind Carries, currently on view at SOCO Gallery here in Charlotte.
Color? Check.
Pattern? Check.
Flowers, layers and a glorious sense of more is more? Absolutely.
Clearly, I am in.
Born in Tehran and now based in Los Angeles, Fallah creates richly layered paintings and collages that weave together Persian references, pattern, folklore and contemporary imagery. His newest exhibition explores identity, migration and community, with botanicals taking center stage.
But you know what really has me?
The round pieces.
I am LOVING them.
There is something about art in a circular format that feels unexpected and fresh. These small round canvases are packed with color, pattern and movement, almost like little jeweled portals.
From an interiors perspective, I also love what a round piece does on a wall. We are surrounded by rectangles, windows, doors, furniture and frames, so throwing a circle into the mix instantly shakes things up. I would love one tucked into a gallery wall or layered over a fabulous patterned wallpaper.
Saturated color, pattern and beautifully layered compositions?
These are speaking my language.
What The Wind Carries is on view at SOCO Gallery in Charlotte through October 31, 2026.
