Art Love: Stuart Dunkel at Shain Gallery

The world feels a little heavy on this Art Love Monday. Headlines are loud. Nerves are tender. And yet, somehow, the smallest creatures are reminding me how to carry on with grit and grace.

Enter Stuart Dunkel, currently showing at Shain Gallery.

Dunkel’s mice may be tiny, but do not mistake them for timid. These dapper, determined little heroes are suited up, standing tall, and facing the chaos with quiet courage. They spar, they pose, they persist. There is wit in their whiskers and resilience in their stance. They feel like a metaphor we all need right now.

I love art that makes you feel something. Even better when it makes you smile and straighten your spine at the same time. In a season that feels uncertain, these small but mighty creatures are proof that strength does not have to shout. Sometimes it simply shows up, buttoned up and ready.

And honestly, if a mouse can handle it, so can we.
