Fun Find: Sergio Bustamente Coffee Table

I saw this coffee table a few weeks ago at Slate Interiors in Charlotte. It certainly captured my attention but I did not have a place for it (nor do I now). I continued to think about it. Last week while running through Slate I saw it had been marked down again and I could not resist this unique vintage bargain.

Interestingly, I found this older listing on 1st dibs for a brass coffee table very similar. Listed for $4800. The details at exactly the same!
Signed and numbered repousse brass and wood coffee table or side table featuring a removable panel of the sun and moon on the sides of the table.

I have this exact Bustamante table but with the moon instead of the sun. I bought it in Mexico City in 1981, for$2000. It might be worth $5000+ now, but I’m not interested in selling.
