When something works, it really works. So is the case with the partnership between Jordan Carlyle, president of Carlyle Designs, and his clients, a young, artistically inclined couple with a growing family. Repeat clients of the New York-based designer, the family approached Carlyle to design their new home, which is located in the city’s Chelsea neighborhood.

A pre-war Greek Revival townhouse with a long history of “ultra-chic owners, ” the 3, 000-square-foot home is almost too good to be true. With three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and hardwood floors throughout, the space is flooded with natural light—a rarity in Manhattan—and has a certain glow the designer describes as “ethereal.” By capitalizing on the soft light of the space and introducing bold colors and artwork throughout, Carlyle created a home perfect for the professional pair to grow into.
