Lighting Love: Hudson Valley

I have shared my fondness for Hudson Valley Lighting before HERE.

I turned them again while searching for a chandelier for a client and was thrilled to find so many amazing new introductions. Most pieces are offered in 2 to 3 finishes too.

These trendsetting and innovative designs are a refreshing change from the everyday.

Spartans were known (and renowned) for their strength and simplicity. Sparta is bold, with javelins of icy hand-poured glass puncturing the air in every which way. It’s a stunning display of bursting energy frozen in motion.

Hinsdale Island Light -Playful and minimal, orbs of light cluster around a square metal beam as if some unseen magnetism were at work. Hand-blown glass spheres are finely etched inside while maintaining a clear glossy sheen on the outside. The result is a pleasing diffusion of light. Hinsdale exhibits sophistication and confidence.

Crisp, modern elegance is taken to new heights in Lyons. Diamonds are known to be so hard they can cut glass. A diamond means the path ahead may be hard to ski. Here, the diamond just means this will be hard to top. Posh mid-century design is alluded to in its basic structure. The candle cluster at center is based off a mirror motif, as if seeing something on the water, reflected perfectly upside-down. Lyons presents a pleasing symmetry. The diamond loop strengthens the unity of the piece, which comes through at first glance.

While open and airy, the bold geometry of Webster’s textured iron elements makes a strong style statement. The crisp lines and visual weight of Webster’s black iron pendant provide a striking frame for the fixture’s smoothly finished array of candelabra lamps.

Junius’s arm is a single swoop, beginning and ending with light. As a chandelier, Junius has a center of faceted crystal with a faceted finial. As a sconce, its shape is almost swan-like. Additionally, the sconce swivels to the right and left. In both versions, lamps face toward the ceiling and toward the floor. Consequently, Junius embodies a sense of balance.
