Lovely Lighting: The Watts Table Lamp

I am lamp obsessed.

The Watts Table Lamp is a flawless contradiction of industrial material and delicate craftsmanship. The standout beauty from the Joie De Vivre collection is updated with new colors and a little extra elbow grease. The aluminum base is polished to perfection creating a mirror-like surface. The polished aluminum base is a metal interpretation of the classic French treillage craft that dates back to the 1800s. The pattern cleverly integrates the fabric-wrapped cord and brass switch. Completed with a radial striped stained glass lampshade containing four harmonious colors, the lamp emits a cheerful light that rests on four brass feet. Mixed metals and bright colors, what else does a table lamp need?

The Watts Table Lamp is named after Mary Watts. Watts was an artist & suffragette who’s work often included feminist iconography, including statues of St. Joan of Arc and silk banners used in women’s marches.  Later in her career, Watts designed the Watts Chapel, which she built with local craftsmen in her community and is one of her most notable projects.
