Ukranian Embroidered Gems

Ever since I saw Leandra Medine, Man Repeller, in a Vita Kin dress I have coveted them.

I even searched the markets in Hungary last summer for a simillar thing.  I have found the answer that fits my purse strings.

Shop Latitude, a favorite haunt for global goods, has started carrying a brand called Embroidered Gem.

Embroidered Gem makes traditional Ukrainian garments, called Vyshyvank. Vyshyvanka’s embroidery was used as a talisman to protect the person wearing it. Each dress is made in Ukraine by skilled artisans. Everything is hand assembled, the fringing and the tassels are all handmade.

Etsy is also an incredible source for these handmade goods. Search Vyshyvanka and you will be in awe at the amazing embroidery.

I ordered 2 to start from Shop Latitude.  I am such a mindful shopper.

I think these handmade Greek Sandals will complete the look.

I’ve been to the Ukraine and was smitten with it. It is the “Provence” of Russia. Those folk designs are such a part of the culture, are even in the woodwork and hand painting on fabulous buildings. Kiev was my favorite. Wish I had bought more!
