Wanderlust Wednesday: Zero George

I am fortunate enough to be staying at Zero George while on this trip to Charleston to celebrate the opening of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra League Designer Showhouse.

This boutique hotel in the heart of historic downtown Charleston has long been on my bucket list.  I have popped in on multiple occasions for for drinks in the stunning bar.  They now have an award winning restaurant among the exquisite accommodations.

I may never leave.

I highly recommend you high tail it to Charleston for a little southern hospitality.

Tradition meets Southern Chic

Zero George is Charleston’s premiere boutique hotel, with a carefully defined product, designed to appeal to sophisticated travelers for business as well as leisure.

Circa 1804, the sixteen studios and suites are located in a landscaped enclave surrounded by three Charleston residences and two brick carriage houses. All guestrooms feature original architectural elements including heart pine floors, high ceilings, period millwork details and classic piazzas.

Guests are greeted upon arrival in the ‘heart’ of the house, the original kitchen carriage house off the courtyard. This 1804 Carriage House has been transformed into the guest reception for our concierge desk, adjacent to our custom designed professional show kitchen with a signature French enamel cooking range.

Juxtaposing Charleston’s period architecture, the hotels décor is southern sophistication with a contemporary twist – reminiscent of a spacious, well appointed and comfortably furnished private home.

The guestrooms décor draws from Charleston’s history as a colonial port and European connections. The “British Trade” motif is a classic and tailored finish, the “French Romantic” features a light and soft impression, and the ‘Yachting Design’ draws on the classic American yachting design palate. The residences’ private piazzas are furnished with wicker and wrought iron furnishings, allowing guests to casually lounge or breakfast while overlooking the Garden Courtyard.

Zero Restaurant + Bar is a tucked-away gem serving Charleston’s most celebrated cuisine in its most sublime and charming ambiance with indoor and outdoor seating. Fine dining is utterly refined as fresh local ingredients dazzle under Chef Vinson Petrillo’s hand. Indulge in the multi-course Tasting Menu or sharpen your skills at the Zero George Cooking School. Advance reservations are recommended.

A European-style continental breakfast is included in your stay at Zero George. Breakfast features house-made granola, quiche, seasonal fruits, Callie’s Biscuits and an assortment of yogurts and cereals.

Stunning formal architecture with eclectic furnishings await guests in the original Palladian Drawing Room and Anson Lounge while the main piazza bar is designed as a gathering place for the hotel, featuring intimate seating areas, lazily spinning ceiling fans and the Charleston sea breeze.

With a focus on fashioning memorable experiences, our Charleston Luxury hotel is a place that beckons return.
