How has your area influenced your work?
I have lived in Miami, New York and Atlanta over the years but grew up on the Gulf Coast. I enjoy the energy of cities and I think that has translated over into the boldness and movement found within my work. I do miss the tranquility and peacefulness of being near the water. One of my next series will focus more on the calmness and serenity of nature.
What is your favorite restaurant in Atlanta?
My favorite restaurant in Atlanta is Ecco (ecco-atlanta.com). Try the fried goat cheese drizzled with honey and the sea salt ice cream for dessert.
What is your favorite cocktail?
I’m not too into the sauce in my older age, but if I must partake, a glass of Pinot Noir is always nice.
How do you balance personal life and work?
I try to first to have a good routine of sleep, exercise and eating well. I strive to keep a positive attitude and continue to push myself to evolve and learn new things. As I meet career milestones I reward myself and create a new list of goals.
My dream trip would be an around the world plane ticket stopping on every continent and exploring as many countries as I could.
I would love to do an extremely large abstract painting for a public space maybe the side of a building or even an airplane. I would also like to develop a line of fabrics for fashion and home textiles.
Your favorite host / hostess gift to give?
A bottle of champagne is a nice hello.
Who is your style icon?
Audrey Hepburn’s style seems to translate to today.
Your favorite up and coming artist?
I recently saw a solo exhibition by photographer Gina M. Phillips and enjoyed her photo-sculptural installations.
I also love the paintings of Yago Hortal
and really enjoy the cinematic photography of Alex Prager.
What is your most treasured possession?
My family, friends and health are most important to me.
What are you reading?
I recently finished reading The Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter
and started The Paris Wife by Paula McLain.
Next on the list was a recommendation from a friend, How Artists Work – Daily Rituals. I also started reading a chemistry book and I am always up for a good biography. I wish I had more free time to read.
What are you listening to?
I just recorded a new album, Unstill Life, so I am listening to the final mixes of those recordings. I have also been listening to a lot of jazz, blues and classical music for instrumentation inspiration. There is always a variety of music on my playlist anything from Erroll Garner, Walk the Moon, Diana Krall, Miles Davis, P!nk, James Taylor…
