Artist Spotlight Series: Denise Fiedler

I have always loved collages.

I think the use of paper and mixed media adds such interesting depth and the reuse of materials creates increased engagement.

Enjoy getting to know this San Francisco talent

How has the your area influenced your work?

I feel very fortunate to live in San Francisco. Being surrounded by water is very calming and reminds me to be fluid. Maybe that is why I’m drawn to blue so much. We have a blue sky that has a coolness and a clarity which feels like it could go on forever. Especially beautiful with the red-orange Golden Gate Bridge.
Like everything about the Presidio- the wildflowers, palm trees and white stucco historic buildings for all the beautiful color and contrast.

What is your favorite restaurant in San Fran?

I would say Zuni Cafe for so many reasons-the energy, the light, the amazing artwork and the quality of service are all as important as the beautiful rustic food. The most eclectic mix of people. It’s a total mix of San Francisco.

What is your favorite cocktail?

A margarita with extra lime
