Beautycounter: Safe Skincare & Clean Beauty

Do you have a beauty routine?

I have bounced between different brands over the past few years. I am always looking for a clean product with minimal chemicals. I also am looking for something to help with my drastically dry and sensitive skin.

Over the holidays I had the opportunity to try Beautycounter products for 4 weeks.

A friend and mother, Amy Gakenheimer, started working with the brand because she believes so strongly in there mission and wants safer products for herself and her girls.

The mission is worth reading. This eye-opening information may shock you as it did me.

Beautycounter Mission:

To get safe products into the hands of everyone.

Decades of studies indicate that serious health issues (including, but not limited to asthma, learning disabilities, cancer and infertility) are on the rise, and due in some part to our ongoing exposure to toxic chemicals—whether it’s in the shower, on our commute, while we eat lunch at a local restaurant, or when we clean our kitchens at home.

There are more than 80, 000 chemicals on the market today. Many don’t have any safety data. This is particularly true of those used in the skin care and beauty industry.

Only about 10% of the 10, 000 chemicals commonly found in personal care products have safety data.

What’s worse is the Food and Drug Administration (the agency that regulates cosmetics) allows companies to use chemicals known to be extremely harmful (lead, formaldehyde, and phthalates) in the products we put on our bodies and on our kids every single day, day after day.

The United States has not passed a federal law to regulate the ingredients used in personal care products since 1938.

The European Union has spent the past two decades banning or restricting more than 1, 300 ingredients, the US has only banned 11 to date.

At Beautycounter,  we’ve banned more than 1, 500 ingredients setting a new health and safety standard—all while ensuring our products perform, and that they’re as indulgent as any luxe shampoo, lipstick or oil in the market.

It’s not easy work, but it’s well worth it.

This is about progress—not perfection. Because every little bit counts.

That being said I am now going to take the plunge and purchase the full Countertime collection (for more mature skin)  for myself.  My skin is craving it.  I have not been able to achieve the same balance since I stopped using it.  I have also been traveling and just taking random creams with me instead of a routine. I am changing my ways with Beautycounter.

Rejuvenate skin and fight the signs of aging with all six products in our Countertime line. Soothing Face Wash removes makeup and other impurities while moisturizing, Enlightening Treatment Pads tone skin and minimize the appearance of pores, Radiance Firming Complex improves hydration and reduces the appearance of wrinkles, Uplifting Day Cream softens and soothes while increasing elasticity, Restorative Night Cream locks in moisture while you sleep, and Vibrant Eye Perfector reduces puffiness and diminishes the appearance of fine lines and dark circles.

Another huge favorite are the Face Oils. I want the collection for they each have a different purpose and the scents are naturally divine.

The simplest way to moisturize skin and boost radiance, this silky formula contains a luxurious blend of pure plant oils. Unlike synthetic oils, which can sit on skin, our Lustro Face Oil is easily absorbed for the ultimate in hydration. Lustro Face Oil 1 contains calendula, an ingredient that adds a leafy herbal scent and acts as a natural anti-inflammatory, soothing sensitive or irritated skin.

Lustro Face Oil 2 contains jasmine oil, an ingredient that adds a subtly sweet floral scent and helps improve skin’s elasticity, making this formula a great option for anyone with dry or mature skin.

Lustro Face Oil 3 contains ylang ylang and wild chamomile – together they impart a delicate herbal-floral scent while rebalancing combination skin.

The lip sheer is my other must have.  It is so smooth and the colors are perfect!

This silky-smooth, long-lasting formula is lightweight yet ultra-moisturizing, for the perfect mix of sheer color and polished sheen. Every shade was color-tested to ensure that each hue complements all skin tones. Plus, there’s no synthetic fragrance—just a sophisticated hint of vanilla planifolia. Layer Lip Sheer to intensify the color, or try it under Lip Gloss for a more lustrous look.

For Violet: She used this whole Face Collection as well as the 2 oil for a month as well.  What a difference it made for her skin. We have both seen negative changes in our skin since we stopped. I am not sure she needs the eye cream yet. I plan in stealing that.

I agree with you! I LOVE Beautycounter products. My friend sells it and I now use the whole Countertime line, the lipstick and the tinted moisturizer…oh and the body cream – love the smell of that. I also buy the body wash for my kids. I try my best to stay as natural as possible, especially with products we use every day. It’s amazing how many bad ingredients are allowed in personal care products!
