F. Schumacher & Co. Names Dara Caponigro Creative Director
Former Editor-in-Chief of Veranda, Dara Caponigro to
Direct Design, New Product Development & Brand Image for the Luxury Design House
NEW YORK, September 30, 2013—Terri Eagle, President and CEO of F. Schumacher & Co., announced today that Dara Caponigro has been named Creative Director of the prestigious fabric, wallcovering and furnishings company and its luxury floorcoverings division, Patterson Flynn Martin. Caponigro will lead the development of all collections, manage the design staff and work closely with visual merchandising and marketing teams. In addition, she will be responsible for building on the brand’s tradition of quality design and charting the company’s creative path as it approaches its 125th year. Caponigro will report to Eagle and will start in her new role today.

During Eagle’s tenure as CEO, Schumacher has undergone significant operational and logistical changes to better serve client needs. The brand has bolstered its sales and marketing teams to remain at the forefront of a highly competitive market. With Caponigro’s appointment, Eagle has secured the brand’s creative stature.

Caponigro has more than twenty years of experience in the design world from tenures at Veranda, Domino, Elle Decor and House Beautiful. At the helm of Veranda, she directed coverage of the world’s most beautiful interiors and established the magazine as a global luxury brand. She was a founding editor of Domino, where she was style director from 2004 to 2009. During her time there, she co-authoredDomino: The Book of Decorating, a New York Times bestseller. Prior to that, she was the Design and Decoration Editor at Elle Decor and over the course of fourteen years at House Beautiful, held various positions, including that of Decorating Director. She also created and owned a business dealing in European antiques. Caponigro began her career at the Cooper-Hewitt Museum.
