Textile Tuesday: Matthew Williamson’s Deya Collection

Oh this collection has me swooning!

Matthew Williamson is internationally renowned for his signature aesthetic; a master of print, embellishment, attention to detail and kaleidoscopic colour. His collections reflect a refined yet spirited sense of glamour inspired by global and artistic influences.

A graduate from the prestigious Central Saint Martins college, Matthew Williamson showed his critically acclaimed debut collection ‘Electric Angels’ in 1997. Celebrating 15 years in fashion last year, the brand’s inimitable style has long appealed to both celebrities and industry insiders alike.

Matthew Williamson’s love of colour, pattern and texture has been paired with Osborne & Little’s savoir faire in furnishing fabrics and wallpaper.

Introducing the delightful DEYA collection

Matthew Williamson’s collection for Osborne & Little is named after the village in the hills of the Balearic island of Mallorca near where the international designer has a home and spends several months of the year. These surroundings have inspired embroidered and printed fabrics which are decidedly Mediterranean in mood and colouring.

A few of my favorites from the collection…

VALLDEMOSSA

An all over stylised composition of colourful flowers and contrasting striped leaves printed on linen union. Named after one of the most beautiful villages on the island of Mallorca.

TALAVERA

A colourful trellis of ribbons combined with citrus fruits and vivid hedgerow flowers is printed on pure cotton. Named after Talavera de la Reina in Castile in mainland Spain, a city famed for its ceramics.

A striking depiction of various types of cactus in bloom printed on linen union.

Ornamental fountains and flower-filled vases bedecked with richly detailed pineapple and peacock feather motifs. Embroidery on contrasting cotton satin ground.
