Tuesday Thoughts and Upcoming Events

So much is going this week!

Don’t miss the CLARE ROJAS SHIFTED HORIZONS at Soco Gallery.

SEPTEMBER 18 – NOVEMBER 8, 2019

Opening Reception with the Artist
Wednesday, September 18, 6 – 8 PM

SOCO Gallery is thrilled to present fourteen new paintings by Clare Rojas. The gallery will host a public opening reception on Wednesday, September 18 from 6 – 8PM. This will be the artist’s second solo exhibition with SOCO Gallery.

While exploring traditional landscape painting through the lens of abstraction, Clare Rojas utilizes subtle hue changes, delicately drawn boundaries and heavy, saturated blocks of color to create her new body of work. The images stretch out on large-scale, linen surfaces which are reminiscent of ancient forests, sheet music and shifting tectonic plates. The symbol of the horizon line is poetically explored, and serves as a foundation to finding meaning, finding balance, out of chaos. Several figurative works will also accompany the abstract paintings, creating a bridge into her realm of the abstract narrative. The resulting exhibition will be an explosion of color and connection. As Rojas states, “We walk on, through the middle of, and below the constant horizons of our worlds and eventually we rise above this line into the unknown… here the horizon ceases to exist.”

Don’t miss the Paravel Trunk Show at Poole Shop. These bags are the best!!!

I use the weekender with my AWAY bag because it slips on the handle and stays put. The packing cubes rock too.

The Mint Museum is pleased to announce the opening of the first solo museum exhibition outside Europe by Studio Drift, an artist collective based in the Netherlands that uses technology in art to illuminate the power and beauty of nature. The exhibition, Immersed in Light: Studio Drift at the Mint, will run from September 20, 2019 to April 26, 2020 at Mint Museum Uptown, and will feature five works created over the last decade, including one installation making its international premiere at the Mint.

Explore the museum’s new exhibition Immersed In Light: Studio Drift at the Mint  on Friday, September 20, from noon to 9 PM.

Studio Drift is an artist collective that explores the boundaries of technology, art, and nature. Gordijn’s fascination for nature and that of Nauta for science fiction and technology blend to expand the definition of art today.

At 6PM join us for a talk by Studio Drift co-founders and directors Lonneke Gordjin and Ralph Nauta.  Talk is free after museum admission and seating is available on a first come, first served basis.

Totally feeling BAMBOO NEST LARGE PENDANT LIGHT.

It is still a zillion degree for real.  I am gearing up for cooler weather and getting some intense moisturizers to try. When the weather turns my skin seriously drys out.

These are all highly recommended.
