Artist Spotlight Series: Jean Jack
I am excited to introduce you to a talented artist I recently discovered.
These colorful landscapes and barn scenes just make me happy.
I adore the simplicity of the compositions with the bold colors combined.
What is your training?
I attended ART STUDENTS LEAGUE in New York City in the early 1960″s
What inspires you and your designs?
When I see a farmhouse or barn that I want to paint I get a rush and know I need to photograph it.
What is your favorite piece?
It is called Maine Barns White It sold some time ago.
I also love one I just finished called Pole Barn series.
I sold a couple of years ago called Queen Anne’s Lace.
How has the your area influenced your work?
So many farmhouse and barns and I love the light.
What is your favorite restaurant in Portland?
In Portland there are so many. I love Fore Street.
What is your favorite cocktail?
How do you balance personal life and work?
I just paint during the week and leave the weekends for touring around Maine or shopping for antiques.
A large painting to paint my favorite barns and farmhouses.
Your favorite host / hostess gift to give?
Who is your style icon?
My daughter Kress Jack in Mill Valley California
Your favorite up and coming artist?
My favorite artist at the moment is Russell Chatham but he is hardly up and coming.
What is your most treasured possession?
A very old, very small birdhouse.
