Instagram has uncovered yet another talented artist.

The distinct style of this artist seems to be Alex Katz with a twist of Francesco Clemente. I was immediately drawn to her whimsical works many featuring a favorite icon of mine.

What is your training? 

University BA degree in Fine Arts,

I haven’t painted in years and after being on the computer for over 10 years as a graphic designer I picked up a brush again a year and a half ago. 

What inspires you and your designs?

People, Fashion, Movies, and the society in which I live.

 What is your favorite piece? 

 “Eyes on Fashion”

and “Eyes Inspired”

How has the your area influenced your work?

Artist Alex Katz said “ I am painting the society in which I live.” This resonated with Michelle igniting the spark to paint her LAKE LIFE series and EYES OF DESIRE. LAKE LIFE is inspired by her weekends in Muskoka

 and EYES OF DESIRE inspired by the movies and fashion. 

What is your favorite restaurant in Toronto?

 There are so many favourites in Toronto but I do frequent a couple of local spots Capocaccia and Quanto Basta, a go to meet up with friends.

What is your favorite cocktail?

Red wine or a Dirty vodka martini 

How do you balance personal life and work?

 I work at home so I do work a lot but I am very lucky to have a good social life where I make time to go out on the weekends with friends or visit with family.

Dream trip?

I love Italy, so I guess another trip to Florence, but this time rent an apartment, paint everyday and stay long enough to learn a bit of Italian and get to know the locals. 

Dream commission?

Good question. I would love to paint a super large canvas for a cool hotel in a big city. 

Your favorite host / hostess gift to give?

Lately, my Note card sets of my work. 

Who is your style icon?

I love wearing black and white, Diane Keaton does it well,

and then there’s Iris Apfel.

Your favorite up and coming artist?

I love UNSKILLED worker on Instagram. 

 What is your most treasured possession?

My right hand. 

What are you reading?

 GRACE

What are you listening to?

Adele,

Sinatra,

Ennio Morricone,

the classics, retro, usually select Spotify chill

What are your favorite blogs / publications?

W magazine,

Harper’s Bazaar, VOGUE and Vanity Fair.
